Data rooms can be large or have deep folder structures with long paths. Unfortunately, not all zip clients can handle such files, which may cause problems when opening or extracting data room archives. Windows’ built-in zip client has significant limitations that stop it from opening or unzipping complex zip files. Aversure recommends using an alternative zip client, such as the ones listed below.

Splitting long paths

If it’s not feasible to use another zip client than the one built into Windows, the Service provides the option to Split long paths when downloading a data room. This will cause the Service to split folder paths that are longer than what is supported by Windows’ built-in zip client. Such long paths will be placed in the root folder of the zip file (with indexing intact), which will allow the data room to be reassembled after it has been extracted from the zip file.
